A novel reconfigurable dual-band patch antenna design using a varactor-loaded slot has been proposed. The frequency ratio tuned from 1.35 to 1.73 with capacitance varying from 0.5pF to 1.1pF. The radiation patterns are similar at both bands. When C = 0.5 pF, the realized broadside gain at both bands is 7.2 and 7.5 dBi, respectively.
